Working Mother's Social Network | MyWorkButterfly

I have some serious concerns about one teacher at my daughters school - and feel strongly that based on what I have witnessed alone and reported, that she is a liability. Is there any state law or resources for establishing if any complaints have been made about her or any way to determine why she was fired from previous positions? Has anyone else dealt with a simlilar situatin? Thanks, amy

Hi Amy, I'm not sure what state you are in, but here in Nebraska most official complaints are taken by the licensing agent, and if the site is accredited, then by the accreditation agent as well. I believe this is public knowledge..you would just need to contact the state licensing agent. Often the complaints are about a particular center, but may include specific home providers. It would probably be a good idea to bring your concerns to the director in case she/he is unaware of what you have witnessed (maybe you've already done this). Maybe the teacher needs additional mentoring and support to understand her role with children.
In Virginia - there is a website where you can look up every state liscened daycare and view their last inspection. It also goes through inspections which were triggered by compliants. It goes through the finds and the actions - this website also lists the agent assigned to the daycare.

hope this helps
