My husband has been a Marine Corps officer for 11 years now. Three long deployments and we are now getting out as of July 1st. I am concerned because he does not have a job as of this moment in time. I work part time and at various contractor jobs, but it would not be enough for us. I hold a Masters degree and I know I could go get a full time job, but that was not our plan. Our kids are still just 5 and 7 and we had intended for me to still be home. I teach online, work part time at the school the boys attend and I am currently learning to develop some courses for teachers, but it won't be enough. I guess I just needed to vent a little and share some stress.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for sharing... what is his background and what area is he thinking about going into?
Terry
He is an intelligence officer so he is looking at federal and civilian intel as well as the FBI. He really would like the FBI but that process can take up to a year. Just stressing :)

Update....Kerry will head right back to the same job (almost) after he gets out July 1. He will stick around as a reserve officer on active duty until the end of September. It worked out that his CO needed someone and Kerry wanted more time to wait for some action on the federal applications he has in. I can breath a little easier...for now:)

I am busier than ever teaching 4 online classes and developing one more. We still don't know what his ultimate job will be but for now he will be here with us while he keeps pushing forward. Better than Iraq or Afghanistan!
Hi Kelly,

I know that Direct Sales is not for everyone, but have you considered a career in Direct Sales? I am a stay-at-home mom to a 5 and 2 year old and recently got involved with a direct sales jewelry company because my family needed more money. I love it. It gives me the opportunity to build my own schedule, set my own benchmark for success, get out and socialize and, most pressing right now, make money. It has provided me with fulfillment on so many levels. And if you move often with your husband, it is something that can transfer with you.

I hope that things get easier for you - handling the stresses of family and home life can often feel overwhelming. Best of luck! And let me know if you'd like more information about my business opportunity.
Thanks for the note Amy. We are actually OK and not too worried...just more concerned that Kerry find a job he likes that keeps him home :) He has had lots of offers from contractors who pay well but they all involve more time overseas and we want to be done with that.

For now he is still working on base as a reserve Marine on active duty. The federal job hunt is a big waiting game...months and months. I would just prefer more certainty in our lives, but it will come.......sooner than later I hope!
