Our house here in NC has been on the market since November. We live in a military community where people are always coming and going so the real estate market did not take the big hit like it did in many other areas. That said...it is slower and we have only had 2 people even look at the house. Each spring many military families get orders and start house hunting. This year, many families coming from metro area cannot sell their home there so they cannot buy here. We are priced fine and low for our neighborhood and we are told the house is beautiful. In 9 years of marriage we have moved four times and lost money selling three houses...the last one we had to sell in a short sale because it was in NW Ohio and we had 1 offer in 14 mos! If you know anyone...anywhere who is thinking of moving to the Jacksonville NC area...send them our way :) Or....how about an investment property you can rent out?? Rentals go quickly here with so many military families :) The house is only 3 years old so its like new...nothing to repair or fix. Does anyone out there in real estate know any great ways to market this? We have an agent and I listed it on militarybyowner.com. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Sometime being a military family feels like a really thankless job. We are made to move every 2-3 years and the this happens!

Why not keep the house and rent it out yourself. You have a realtor and he/she can rent the house out for you and the rent can be deposited straight to the bank. It can all be arrainged. You can hire a person who specializes in rentals to rent it for you and then hire them to check on the place and give you regular reports. I am a realtor in California and I offer this service to some of my clients who have to move because of jobs, but they want to resettle in the area later.
We are thinking about it...just really don't want to hold onto it.

Kelly, have you sold your house yet?  If not send me a message and I can put you in touch with someone who may be able to help
