Yikes...I've been away so long!

But that's because I've been busy with Swim Strong!  Last year we served 100 children.  This Spring program we have over 140 children in the water between learn to swim, competitive , lifeguard training and upcoming clinics (surfing on the 17th!)

We're now operating in three pools:  Flushing Meadow, Corona Queens; St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights and Far Rockaway High School Queens.  We have 35 volunteers in the water and another 20 involved in projects out of the pool (like conducting research for potential grants and parentcommunity advocacy work).

The clinics are expanding and will include: Surfing, Water Polo, Diving, Kayaking, Synchronized Swimming and more!

We are a 501c3, volunteer organization whose mission is to STOP the drowning; get kids up and off the couch and into the pool for healthy lifestyles...fighting childhood obesity; give them life lessons of self discipline, team work, goal setting and expand their possibilities by showing them other water based sports

We offer low cost swim lessons ($20/hour of semi private instruction)...and we are particularly reaching into communities where kids don't traditionally swim...like the Rockaways, where so many drowning deaths occur.
