Hi! My name is Lakisha and I recently moved from NYC to Alexandria, VA, which is in the DC Metro area.  My son attends middle school in Fairfax County, which is one of the primary reasons why I moved here.  My brother and his family live in the area and I don't really know anyone else besides them.  How do I go about meeting people?

Living here is very different from NY, but it is a welcome change.  However, there is much I have to learn about the area, especially getting around, as I do not have a car but intend to get one in the near future.  I am also seeking employment and find it challenging to determine areas of where to focus my search to minimize travel time of no more than 45min, especially if I have to depend on public transportation. Any tips/suggestions are very much appreciated. Hello DC Moms! I live in the Frederick area. About 40-45min north of DC... I am a recently new single mom to three boys ages 9yrs 7yrs and 2yrs. Any fun things to do or going on in city or around area??

Hi DC Moms. I live in Southern Maryland about an hour from the beltway. I am looking to get back into the workforce part time initially. I took a little break to have my 4th daughter and stay home with her for the first two years of her lovely little life! Please check out my resume and send along any leads you may know.

HI DC moms - I'm in Maryland, Howard County - so sort of a DC area mom. I'll be excited to see what goes on in this group. I'd be interested in discussing childcare options in the area as mentioned previously by Amanda. Anybody know a good au pair for the summer?

I think discussing good childcare options for kids our age both during school year and Summers would be something I think people would be interested in.

What topics of discussion would you like to engage in as we get our group rolling?
