Hey Everyone! How are your soccer seasons going??? How are your kids doing? Lots of goals along w/some disappointments... all for the love of the game. My kids are 14 and 16 and our house is obsessed! We all love the sport, and I wish I played - think I'd look pretty foolish though. No need to give the kids anymore ammunition to laugh at me!! lol

Would love to hear from some of you about your seasons, if you go see MLS games, if you've seen any big names in person, sideline tips, etc.

Dena - How exciting! Welcome to the world I've been living for the last 13years! It's been a long time since my son first took the field at age 3. Now he's 16, drives himself to practice! My daughter, 14, also plays and its hard to believe we've been driving back and forth and buying cleats for well over a decade. How old is your son the champion? Sounds like you'd better put up a shelf for all those trophies he'll be bringing home. Word of advice: Teach him how to attend to his soccer bag early. Enjoy! :0)

Bradi,
Isn't it so funny how they just want to do everything. You just can't fit it all in LOL. It's better to let them try it all when they are young and figure out what they like best by the time they hit HS. MADDENING great word for it LOL! Yes, no need for potatoes!

thanks so much for that! he does basketball in the winter and baseball in the spring and now has expressed interest in lacrosse. maddening. better than being a coach potato I guess!

Bradi,
I'm one of those moms that only allow 1 sport per season. With 3 kids, it would be impossible to get them to everything. 1 sport per season per child is crazy enough LOL.
Something you may want to try is to allow him to do Football in the Fall, then try to find a soccer team in the winter or spring. Look at indoor soccer facilities and I'm sure you could get him connected to a team in the winter or many towns offer 2 seasons for recreation soccer (fall & spring). Another option is to try a soccer camp in the summer. My husband has a Soccer & Basketball camp for K-12 in Pompton Lakes & Wayne, NJ. I'm not sure how close you are, but you can check it out at the following link:

My son loves soccer and football. The problem is they are the same season. His commitment is football first but I feel bad not letting him play soccer too. So, I have signed him up for both, again. The problem is that he won't make any of the soccer practices which is not really fair to the team. Any suggestions?

All 3 of my kids have been playing since the age of 4. Our weekends are centered around soccer year round. My husband is a HS coach, club coach, club trainer and has his own soccer camp in the summer. We are truly a soccer family. You will also find us at most, if not all of the RedBull games, we have been season ticket holders since opening year of MLS.
