Like I said, I have just a standard Panasonic Lumix DMC-LZ7. I'd like to get something different but I'm not sure what. I don't really have the money to buy something super extravagant. It'll do for now!
I have a Nikon D40 SLR. I have had a lot of digital cameras over the years, but this one is fantastic.

I've been looking at this one! It's not too terrible in price. And its pretty good? No glitches?
I got mine refurbished from Adorama and the price wasn't bad at all. We had a Nikon film camera already, with several lenses, and all of those lenses work on the D40!

You can see some examples on my website. All of those images were taken with the D40.

Very awesome!! Love them all!! I think it'd be a good investment for me.
Originally, I was going to go for the "big fancy" Nikons, costing about a grand or more just for the camera. I spoke with some local photographers, however, as well as some that I've met online, and they all LOVE their D40. They've expressed to me that they purchased the higher-end cameras and that they've remained on their shelves, while they use their D40 for all of their shoots, whether it be portrait or nature/still life.

I have been very happy with my D40. I shoot in RAW and post process with a combination of CS4 and Paint Shop Pro XI. I can't complain about any of my results.
I guess I owe you guys an update! Last Sunday I got my D40. I'm in LOVE with it. It's the most awesome thing...I got it with the standard 18-55mm lens and also got a 55-200mm. Awesome. Although I get pretty good results with my pictures, I will use Photoshop CS3 to clean up my pics.
Sandra - I also heard the same thing from many pro-photographers about the D40...so instead of spending $1000+ on a DSLR, I purchased the D40 and the 55-200mm lense (and had some money to spare). I absolutely LOVE the camera! I still have a lot to learn, and I'm 100% satisfied with my decision!
