I just started a website (not a moneymaker, just a passion) www.abledlinks.com - resources, information, services and products for the "difFerEntlY-ABLED".  My oldest daughter is mentally disabled and it is my desire to help other special needs parents.  I had NO idea how much work goes into a website and networking!  ugh  I am struggling with the networking part - all new to me.  I have FB and try to use Twitter (not really understanding the twit thing)  Help me out here!

Hello,

I am a current college student looking for networking information. Such as how does networking work, what is networking and how do i find different networks?

I have recently joined the Empower Network -a new affiliate blogging network. It pays 100% Commission - so get one - and it's paid for! Please contact me for more information!

Boy am I glad I found this site and group :). I have been trying to promote my business and to be honest, I don't know where to start. Luckily the clients that I already have, were introduce to me by friends and family. I hope you ladies have words of advise. Thank you!

Thanks Terry and Candy!

I do appreciate the advice and I will begin to utilize the networks that I have. I am just at a point where I have to really decide what I want to focus on...thanks again.

CJ -
Great advice! Also, with respect to Twitter, after you follow people who are of interest to you whether personally or professionally, make sure to check out who they are following. This may also have an huge impact on your Twitter expxerience.

Hi, CJ!
You have all the tools you need, now you just need to organize yourself so that you can begin to grow your business with them!
Do you have a regular schedule for when you publish blog posts?
Do you make a conscious effort to follow people who are of interest to you - not just for business, but those who have similar interests to you or something that you might want to learn more about - on twitter or facebook?
I would start with either twitter or facebook, whichever you are most comfortable with, and be disciplined about growing a community and building relationships. It's not about you, it's about others! If you are going to tweet - use the 80/20 rule - tweet 80% retweets and conversations learning about others, encouraging others, and 20% about what you are doing or a little about your business or area of expertise. No spamming allowed! Especially follow people in your own geographic community, so that you can eventually meet people in real life, and then the real fun begins! Learn about others, support others, and promote others!
Go for it!
XO Candy

I have to admit, I really am behind the 8 ball when it comes to social networking, especially in promoting my business. A have my own blog and I use FaceBook. I have a twitter account - have never used it!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There is so much out there that it can be overwhelming and terrible time consuming.
