Hi...new to this group, but I love networking, so I'm sure I'll love this group! I'm an Executive Recruiter with more than 20 years combined search and HR experience. I'm also a single mom and looking to develop some new businesses streams. I look forward to hearing from you!

If any of you know someone looking for a job, I've just found this new website to post resumes...and it's free, like it should be! http://www.resumark.com/?u=7fc07081

Susan

Yes, I was in an abusive marriage for 4 years. Now I volunteer and speak to groups about domestic violence and the stereotypes.

It's funny, people just automatically assume that having a baby will stop you. I stayed in with her for two weeks when I brought her home and then I was gone! People were shocked. When I left her dad it all started again, but she has never slowed me down. In fact, shes pretty flexable. I'd come home and tell her to pack a bad becaue I made reservations in San Diego for the weekend. Now that shes in college and working we have to plan a weekend or a vacation. Still, she has never slowed me down. We were talking the other day and she said to me "you'll never retire, I can't see it". She thinks I'll wither away if I'm not moving or doing something. Shes probably right. I stay busy. I just can't stay still.

Susan, thank you so much for contributing! There's a magic phrase in what you wrote: "Everywhere I went she went." It sounds like you continued to experience everything you could after she was born, but instead of leaving your daughter behind you ended up with a partner in crime (so to speak). What a great story!

Workaholic?! I know the definition of this word better than anybody! Everyone thought that having a child would slow me down. What were they thinking? She didn't slow me down a bit, until high school. I would go to the Tennis court to practice, she would run the court picking up the balls and putting them back into the basket for me. Everywhere I went she went. When it was time for school I just switched my work schedual. Your looking at the mom who went to college full-time and worked two full time jobs AND had a social life. The second time I went to night school and hired a sitter to watch her the couple of hours I was in school. Slowed down by my baby, no way! Does she hate me because of it today, she says no. She says she did alot of things her friends didn't. I think I did a pretty good balance job. And, I cooked a hot meal every night.
