A little about yourself...
I have been a corporate litigator for thirteen years, including a decade at a top Manhattan law firm. In 2009, I took a sabbatical from corporate law to focus on public interest law and advocacy. An avid work-life advocate, I am working to end maternal profiling (discrimination against working mothers), including by leading a legislative campaign against maternal profiling in Pennsylvania. I am Director of Community & Content to the award-winning website, HybridMom.com (recognized by ForbesWoman in 2010 and 2011 as one of the "top 100 websites for women.")

Sleep, Interrupted

Posted on July 20, 2010 at 10:00pm 1 Comment

I recently wrote an article for Hybrid Mom about the, ahem, sleep situation in my house. The situation being we get very little sleep. The article was also picked up by Yahoo Shine, and, wow, did some moms have something to say to me.

Pinkdazy chastised me fairly harshly, scolding…

What I've "learned" from my yearlong "vacation"

Posted on February 16, 2010 at 2:30pm 1 Comment

I am now nearly nine months into my yearlong sabbatical from my law firm position. I was asked to write an article about my experience for the American Bar Association's webzine, Law Practice Today, which they recently published. While many of my colleagues patted me on the back and told me to enjoy my "vacation", I knew when I left, that a "vacation" was not in my future. Staying home to care for my three young children, nurture my writing career, and pursue some other professional and… Continue

Is it just me or has on-line holiday shopping become way too complicated?

Is it just me or has on-line holiday shopping become way too complicated?

I consider on-line shopping to be one of the great innovations that makes working moms' lives possible, right up there with the microwave oven and flushable toilet brushes. When I venture into the mall, admittedly infrequently now that I have three children ages 6 and under, I am overwhelmed by the sights and sounds. Well, that's if I can see and hear. Becasue when I venture accidentally into one of those… Continue

Work Life Month Begins Tomorrow

Posted on September 30, 2009 at 12:40pm 0 Comments

October is National Work Life Month, designated unanimously by Senate Resolution in 2003.

While most working moms face the work life issue every day, this designation of October as "the" month to think about the issue, presents a special opportunity to find and seek out new ways to help with the work life challenge.

One interesting resource is the… Continue

Hi Amy,
How are you?! We wanted to wish you a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY today!!! We'd also love to connect on our new offering for moms entitled MOMS THREE HOUR WORKWEEK- based off of my (Bradi) successful mommy and me biz I've been running for 10 years. We're marketing it as a biz-in-box solution to women looking for flex work! The tile on the right side of Butterfly's home page (click thru) tells more of the story. Any help in spreading the word would be great!
Also, love to continue to see you upload your fabulous writings here!!! We hope you are well- kiss to your sister too!
