A little about yourself...: I am a scientist, research director in cell biology (CNRS, University Paris Descartes) in Paris, France. Research in my lab have led to the discovery a novel protein (ATIP3) which associates with the microtubule cytoskeleton, and whose expression is significantly down regulated in triple negative breast cancer (Work recently published in PloS One oct 2009 by Rodrigues-Ferreira et al). Importantly, after re-introduction of this protein into triple negative breast cancer cell lines, we observed a reduction in cell proliferation, suggesting that ATIP3 may represent a new therapeutic target for TN breast cancer. After initial work of my lab on the family of proteins comprising ATIP3 (two patents registered), I fell into the coma for two weeks, and spent one year at the hospital. I am now in a wheeling chair, doing physiotherapy for recovery, but I went back to the labo to continue my research projects on triple negative breast cancer. My objectives are to raise some money for my lab to be able to pursue my research projects on ATIP3, with the aim to develop new therapeutic strategies.
