A little about yourself...: Hi, My name is Grith Mandrup-Poulsen. I am 38 years old. I live in Denmark where i have my own marketing firm. I see my self as an creative person whos likes to gets results for my customers. I also have 2 beautiful sons, (12 and 20). Personally I enjoy travelling, art, dance, theater, fashion and lifestyle. I am extremely proud of being a good mother and a succesful career woman at the same time. Eventhough i know all about how difficult it sometimes can be. I am shocked that the school wasn't more accommodating about your son's diabetes. I am not familiar with educational laws outside of the U.S. Here, we have nurses and nurse's assistants in the schools specifically for our children with diabetes and they administer their insulin here. We must accommodate for any health issues legally.

The one idea I've thought of around getting your son to school is trying to involve a friend or a peer in some way. At 12 years old, peers are likely becoming very important to your son. If he could have the support of a close friend at school - to walk with, etc. That may help? And, of course, I'm sure you are aware that your son will pick up on your feelings about the situation and follow your lead on that. So if you have anxiety about it, he is likely to have anxiety about it. You might have to "fake" confidence about the situation and a calm reassurance.

This is a very difficult issue. Good luck to you! Wish I could help more.
