A little about yourself...
I have been married for 24 years, and am the mother of four children (M 24, F21, F 18, M16). At the age of 19 I married and left my job at the USPS (Post Office). I stayed home and raised my children for the next 20 years. Except for a couple of part time jobs, for sanity purposes, my work history is nonexistent. Three weeks prior to turning 40, I began classes at the local community college. That was 3 years and four months ago. Recently I graduated with an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, and an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice/ Latent Evidence/Crime Scene Investigations. I am 2 classes shy of a certificate in Domestic Violence Intervention, which i will complete in the Fall 09 semester. I worked as a lab assistant in the latent evidence department for two years which ceased in May when I graduated. I have just completed the first chapter of my education, and am pursuing the next.
I hope to gain knowledge from other women/moms here, either entering or reentering the work force, or have been in a similar situation as mine.
I believe volunteering is an intricate part of life. As long as we are able i feel we need to share our time by making a positive impact in the world. At this time I am in training to volunteer with our local Family Services. I will be assisting Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault victims.
Faith is a large portion of my life. I am blessed to have a supportive group of friends, and church family. I have an overwhelming faith in God. By the Grace of God, bumps in the road are easier to endure. I believe there are plans for my life which have yet to seen. Through God all things are possible. God Bless You.

Hi LaRonda - and God Bless You! Boy would I LOVE to speak with you. How close is Clemmons to Asheville? I'd love to connect you with my dear friend there. Just know that I am praying for you:
1. That you continue to see just how much the Lord loves you by seeing how He is working in your life in the smallest of ways
2. That you find work that will sustain you in your studies and providing for you and your children. The Lord will provide ALL your needs.
3. That you will find wonderful volunteer projects to be a part of. This was critical to me when I first established my own business. The Lord will provide the opportunities.
4. Keeping your focus UP!
LaRonda, I'm in the process of updating my website to best reflect my passion - to share godly resources for women. I'd be interested in sharing any resources in the Clemmons area in regard to domestic abuse and pathways to self-sufficiency programs. I'd love to speak with you about being a resource on this web site. Remember, our web site is not updated - I will do this in early August, but please visit it - www.refreshandrenew.com.
God bless - I'm praying so please share answers as they come!
Big Hugs and God Bless, Pam

La Ronda,
It is so true when they say that God doesn't give you more than you can handle - with HIS grace and guidance. I know that when I try to get things going through my own works, I often get frustrated. The more I turn to God and ask for His help, the more success - AND peace - I experience. Spend time with God. Spend time in His Word. I am amazed at what I learn every time I read passages I thought I "knew" and couldn't get anything from! Pray for the most benevolent outcome for all involved. God has a good plan for your life - plans to prosper you, not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Greater is He who is In you than he who is in the world - and He will give you the strength you need.
God bless!

Hi La Ronda,
I want to first say thank you for sharing your story with us. You are very brave. Please, please consider reaching out to our resident psychotherapist Julie Potischman on the left side of the home page. Just click through and leave her a message- she is an expert in advising moms. Next speak to Julie Cohen, also on the home page who is our expert career coach.

You can continue your journey here by looking to join some of our many groups (under members tab) like SINGLE MOMS or PRAYING MOMS (they may give you the support you need to stand on your own) to connect and network with like-minded women. Or, start a group of your own.
