A little about yourself...
I am a stay at home mom with three childre. Twins that are 12 and a seven year old . I worked in publishing at New York Magazine and Conde Nast for 15 years, before moving to Tenafly at which time i chose to be a full time stay at home mom.

I am interested in possibly part time work, but really don't know where to begin given my constraints at home.

Hi Laura,

I am so excited to represent a company like Partylite in today’s economy! By having a candle party, you can offer your friends a great "Girls Night Out" with some snacks and maybe a glass of wine and the opportunity to get themselves a little something from Partylite for LESS
than the cost of dinner and a movie!

While many people are cutting back on BIG purchases, like new furniture or a big screen TV, women will welcome an invitation to a candle party at a friend’s house and the opportunity to maybe get something new for their homes at a great price all while having a FUN night out.

Where most Companies are laying off and downsizing, Partylite is hiring!!! We can offer someone the opportunity to earn $1,000 per month working just two nights per week with NO CASH INVESTMENT. No one will ever be made to feel pressured to do anything!
Contact me if you have any questions and remember we are entering into a great selling season.

Hi Laura,
I'm glad you wrote, but I think you may have confused me with someone else (I'm not on a conference call). I'm Susan & Allen Kay's daughter & I was actually going to give you a call later this afternoon (your mom gave me your number). I heard you were very lucky in finding a job on this site working from home & I would love some pointers. I'll give you my number as well & hopefully we'll be able to touch base later. It's 914-861-2252. Thanks again for contacting me.

Hi Laura, It's nice to meet you. Thanks for your note. Where to begin? A great question.

-First, I'd encourage you to spend time thinking about what you want as you head back in to the workforce - define your ideal - full/part time, type of flexibility, possibly industries, types of positions/responsibilities. Once you have your vision, then you can get tactical and start targeting possibilities.

From reading your above industry/field of interest, do you want to go back in to publishing? Work in a marketing function? PR? Other areas of interest?

Second, answer the above questions and brainstorm as many possibilities as you can. If you're stuck, ask friends, family, former colleagues. Check out the professional associations for any of the fields you're interested in. It's likely they will have local chapters where people in that field get together and talk/learn/network about the profession. And, there might also be job listings available on a professional association website.

You may need to take 'baby steps' getting yourself slowly re-connected to a former professional area, or connecting with a new area (or both).

Third, you'll also need to prepare your professional documents - resume, cover letter - how you want to present yourself to possible employers (assuming you want to work for someone else.)

That's another thing to consider - is there an entrepreneurial venture that might meet your needs and interests?

Regardless of your professional target(s), I'd encourage you to take small steps and seek support from friends, family or a professional. It's a BIG step going back after AND you can definitely do it.

HOpe this is a start. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,
Julie

Hi Laura,
Welcome to Butterfly!

You can start your journey here by joining some of the incredible groups (under members tab) like MOMS OF MULTIPLES or start one of your own to futher connect and network with like-minded mothers.

When you're ready, scour the job search board for opportunity and upload your resume for employers to view. Reach out to the moms within the groups like WAHM to see what opps they have found. (I used to work at Marie Claire/Town & Country so I totally get it!) If your background was in sales and you'd like to sell for our site please email me directly at bnathan@myworkbutterfly.com.

You can also blog about your experiences so that other moms can share and comment back. Just click blog and off you go...

Enjoy the celebrity mom videos and inspiring working mother interviews as well as the Lifestyle editorial.

Don't forget to enter Bfly's Mom's Day Contest to win a $500 Shopping Spree from Club Monaco. (info on the right hand column).

Let me know if you have any questions/suggestions and please help to spread our mission to empower moms by way of the invite tab. And, feel free to upload your photo.
