About me ...

I've been working in HR for nearly 10 years -- 6 of which have been at a major insurance company. Work is exciting, fulfilling and (thankfully) secure, but it comes after my family. My daughter and husband are the loves of my life, and I am fortunate to work from home. This allows me to spend more time with the people that mean the most to me. I believe in good karma, leading by example, having a positive outlook, that we create our own destiny, and finding the humor in life. During my "down time," I enjoy writing, reading, photography, good conversation and good wine.

Reflecting on my book publishing experience.

Posted on October 22, 2009 at 3:34pm 2 Comments

Hello, MWB Friends.

Many of you have been a part of my book publishing journey, and now that the book, “Tomorrow Is My Birthday,” is nearly finished, I thought I would reflect on the experience and share my thoughts.

Back in May, I decided to go the self-publishing route with AuthorHouse.com. It had been a year since I completed my children’s book manuscript and I finally had the funds to self-publish. Deciding to self-publish would enable me to realize a… Continue

My Book is ALMOST Ready

Posted on September 15, 2009 at 9:04am 1 Comment

I am so excited! My children's book, "Tomorrow is my Birthday," is almost finished. Currently, it's in the final illustration stage at Author House. Once my final payment (for self-publishing) goes through this week, I'll be ready to start sharing my good news and this little gem of a book. Oh, and it's also the week of MY birthday, how ironic.

AlexandMe.com contest winner

I was thrilled to get a call from Terry and Bradi (MWB's founders) that I was randomly selected to receive the $500 shopping spree to AlexandMe.com. My order was placed and received very quickly - I love the bathing suits and clothing that I was able to get for myself, husband, daughter and niece. The quality is great, the customer service was very good and overall, I am one happy momma! I definitely recommend checking out the site for your summertime and sun protection needs.

I'm going to publish a children's book ...

Posted on June 10, 2009 at 6:06pm 2 Comments

I am so excited to be fulfilling a lifelong dream - to be a published author! After finishing my children's book manuscript and researching the publishing side of the business, I've decided to work with authorhouse.com. My book, which will come out later this summer, is dedicated to my 19 month old daughter, Ava.

It's the perfect birthday story, that I am hoping, all toddlers fall in love with. If you love birthdays and cake as much as I do (and as much as the 3 year old in my… Continue

Hi Shannon! I wrote this story years ago and tried so hard for so long to get it published by sending to every pub house i could think of! However, i have learned these houses dont publish reg people anymore...just internal pre-published authors or celebrities! Therefore, after meeting with agents and people in the industry, i did my research and self published! I found authorhouse--a self publishing company, where MANY big time authors started, and then got picked up by the big names and stores. It was not a painful process..they made it very enjoyable and easy! Now my book is on over 20,000 online sites, smallers gift stores are picking it up and with the help of facebook, town papers/mags, websites and blogs i've been written up in and word of mouth, schools, etc...it's blasted all over! It's worth it in the end to self publish if you cant get a big pub house to back you...the most amazing thing to see your story in book form! Love that my 15 month old daughter will read her mom's story eventually! I'm here if you have any questions!!!

Hi Shannon, How are you doing?? Well near to 1,000 in 2 weeks....have to keep it going...reached all over the world now. We have a push coming that goes out to 825,000 moms in February...that should help too! Just added a few more interesting women to our Editorial Calendar, including Josie Bissett (used to be Jane Manncini on Melrose Place)....and two Fox News Reporters; one who covered the Inauguration in DC.

Hope you'll continue to keep the conversation going....and invite in any of your mom friends/colleagues/family.

We'll connect soon. Best, Terry
