The Adventures of Mz. Mom & Friends

Professor Traci E. Alexander an award winning journalist, communications specialist and mother of two very enthusiastic children is known as Mz. Mom to every overwhelmed and overscheduled mother who understands that the dream of balancing work and life is only temporary—because something or some circumstance is bound to happen that will eventually disrupt our dream and upset the balance. “It is really about creating your own unique work style that allows you to have a joyful lifestyle that gives us busy moms permission to just be our beautiful selves…in every moment! So let’s forget about pursuing perfect balance.”

Because of her commitment to finding alternative ways to help working mothers blend career and motherhood, Traci founded Mz. Mom, LLC, a network for professional women, the place where we share our motherhood adventures as we journey together.

Livid Mom Madlyn Primoff Leaves Squabbling Daughters Roadside Then Drives Away

Friday April 24, 2009

It’s almost impossible to concentrate to drive while two bickering children are engaging in verbal warfare in the backseat of the car. Haven’t you had this unnerving experience, almost propelling you to make good on that promise? You know the one, “If you guys don’t stop that fighting I’m going to put you out of this car!”

For sure I coninue to endure those crazy… Continue

Hi Traci,
As a busy mom, I wanted to introduce to an easy way to keep in touch with family/clients and friends. It's called, SendOutCards. You can send REAL greeting cards ( not e-cards) with personalized messages and with your own photos all from the comfort of your computer. You can even use your own handwriting and signature! SendOutCards mails the card for you. You can even add gifts-super convenient! Great for the upcoming holidays.

Go to my website and send a free card on me-www.sendoutcards.com/annese to see how easy and unique this system is. Also a great way to build residual income by introducing the service to others. Call or email if have any questions-732-675-8209.

Take care,
Eleanor

Hi Traci! I appreciate your statement on letting go of being perfect. As moms we often hold ourselves up to near-impossible standards and beat ourselves up for anything that doesn't measure up. We need to recognize that being our imperfect, genuinely loving selves will do wonders for our children. Also, the transitions from stable to stressed to overwhelmed and back again are parts of a healthy balance. Spending less time in overwhelmed is a more realistic goal than never going there at all.

Hi Tracy, I'm new here and thrilled about the whole theme of transformation, helping women re-enter the workplace and helping those who are know how to juggle it all. I've found a way as a mother separated from her children due to a life-threatening situation to find purpose, meaning, and a transformed sense of who I am. If there is anything i can do to contribute to what you are doing here, please feel free to contact me. @KareyShane Blessings to you.

Hi Traci. I think I may have a story you would want to share with others about balance. Take a look at my profile to see what you think. I hold a masters in education and I left work full time to raise my boys. In those 7 years I have found meaningful work, part time, from home and outside to keep my current and challenged. I would love to share my story with other moms who may not think it is possible.

Hi there Lady T!

Hope all is well - I just wanted to share some good news with you; I went to interview for a teaching job at a charter school in the Bronx yesterday, and was hired on the spot! The principal even had me select the carpet I want for my classroom before I left!

Thank you for holding me up in prayer - I love you!

I can't begin to describe how bad I felt when I got off of the phone with you this morning - I really messed up. Please forgive me, and know that going forward, I will pay closer attention to what is being asked of me, and make sure that there are minimal distraction around me.

Here is one of the responses I gave:

Thanks for the suggestion. Teaching makes a lot of sense b/c your work schedule will almost always be in sync with your kids' schedules (summers off, etc). Good luck and enjoy the time with your daughter - it is precious.

Kristina:

I was recently downsized from the marketing dept of a pharamcertucal company and with a 3 year old at home, I was torn as to what to do. I too wanted a better balance.

I decided to go into teaching; I'm in an accelerated master's course that will finish in 18 months. It will be less than what I was making in the corporate world, but the time I will have to spend with my daughter and the work/life balance are more than worth the sacrifice. Just something to consider.
