How Disney Brings Out the Liar in Me

I was recently given an amazing opportunity from my friends at Disney Canada to attend the Disney Social Media Moms conference in Orlando. I jumped at the chance – by March, who doesn’t need to get a hit of that happy drug the Big Mouse deals out?

The added bonus was that this conference is a family getaway….well, for a family of four, anyway. Once I got a friend to agree to come…

I should be cleaning, volunteering at my kids school, feeding the poor... - Weekly Wings

What is the single biggest challenge you face as a working mother? According to Dr. Robi Ludwig, Butterfly mom and nationally known Psychotherapist, one of the biggest obstacles mothers face is not knowing how to take time out for themselves- without feeling guilty.

I listened attentively as Dr. Robi spoke…

Give up the superwoman myth that we’re all supposed to balance our lives to perfection!

Go Red for Women - American Heart Association

Excerpt from Guest Speaker, Nationally known Psychotherapist and Butterfly Mom, Dr. Robi Ludwig:

"When was the last time you took time out for yourself? Now, when was the last time you took some time out for yourself and didn’t feel guilty?

If you’re like me and a lot of other women, it’s the “guilt factor” that gets even the most sophisticated self-nurturer to forgo their much needed time to replenish… Continue

Relief and Jubilance

Spring is finally here! I don't know about you, but I love the longer, bright, sunny days that lay ahead.  There are so many things to look forward to, especially the rebirth of our beige, winter existence.  Not to sound too cliche, but there is something special about looking forward to our tulips popping through the ground.  Have you ever really looked at the tulips when they pop through the soil?  You can visualize the dark, cold winter days they had endured only to awaken to the warm…

Molested-Forgive yourself

Maybe he/she was a somenone you have loved, or just simply knew. Forgiveness is for you! How often I hear the stories of molested women and friends who were not quite sure it was molestation due to the fact that you knew him or that he was too close in age or carried the thought that, maybe his touches were not so bad. Whatever your story is, investigate it. Your anger, your reason for not trusting yourself is not there by coincidence. Release that victim in you, free yourself. Dare to be your… Continue

Hope and Dum-Dums are all we got

Stress, excitement, anticipation, and STRESS.

What a freakin’ day!  Holy cow.

I’m watching all these elementary kids run out of the building like maniacs with small brains (well, seriously, their brains are actually, physically small).  Everyone is happy that it is Spring Break.

Now, at the end of this tiring day, I will pick up my own maniac-with-a-small-brain (and my husband), and off we will go, driving for many hours to begin our own…

How to bounce back from rejection.

Rejection. We’ve all been there.  Whether it was a college letting you know you were not accepted into the program or an employer telling you another candidate was chosen for the job, we have all faced rejection at some point in our life.

How have you bounced back from rejection?

This weekend my book proposal was rejected (exact words: I’ll pass”) by two literary agents that had initially expressed some interest in my book topic. After having horrible flashbacks to my…

TOD

Hi butterfly fam,

As I work on the next book, Truisms Over Drinks 2, I receive a call from a friend who just finished reading the first one.  I'm nervous and anxious to hear her review.  She squeals in my ear, I absolutely love it.  Hearing the words flow from her mouth, I get nervous. Only because, I'm not sure if this is coming from her love and hope for me or her honest opinion.  Either way, I'm still writing the next book and the next one after that.  I do feel a bit…

How to Lose the Muffin Top! Spring has sprung but our waistlines don't have to! - Weekly Wings

How ironic that I awoke to the beauty of snow - covered trees yesterday a.m. as it marked the first day of spring in the Northern Hemisphere. What is even more odd is that on that very date, thirteen years ago, flakes fell from the sky on my wedding day in New York City. This is “snow joke.”

Dare I mention that bathing suit season is around the corner? This gives us harried moms three short months to…

No-Fault Divorce on Appeal in New York

Hi,

I've been writing and blogging about divorce for awhile now, after my own heartbreaking divorce. I live in New York and last summer New York became the 50th and final state to enact no-fault divorce.  To me, this was a disgrace and a tragedy.  The social ills we're seeing all across America, especially where our children are concerned, are directly related to our out-of-control divorce system.  And the research proves it.

There's some good news out of New…
