"For the Average Servantless Woman"

My husband just had a good laugh at me because I just said (in a growly voice), “We need to hire some staff around here.” I’m having a Walter Mitty moment, dreaming away, and I’m taking another sip of wine.

Nothing wrong with dreaming right? Even if it is completely and utterly unrealistic.

I imagine a housekeeper cleaning away the pen ink scribbles on the couch, cracker crumbs on the floor, and mysterious dried food bits all around the kitchen area. Actually, I take…

How can women best handle the stress they endure from being a mother, a wife, and an employee at the same time?

Dr. Robi is a nationally known psychotherapist who has been a guest on several programs like: Today, E!, Regis and Kelly, Oprah, The View and Bill O’Reilly to name a few.

It’s very important for women to take time out for themselves. Whatever that “time out” is. Mothers need space to hear their own thoughts, which in turn helps them to nurture their souls. Maybe that means working out, taking time out to be with fellow girlfriends, and/or a… Continue

How might a husband feel if his wife should suddenly become the major “bread winner?”

We asked Psychotherapist Dr. Robi:

I don’t know if a husband should feel one way or the other about his wife being the major breadwinner in the family. Some men really like this idea. All I can tell you is that my husband would really, really love it if I were the breadwinner for our family! So, I’m working on it!!!

Top 10 Natural Ways for Moms to Lose That Annoying “Pouch” and Have More Energy

1. Avoid the Bloat—Try to limit carbonated beverages, eat more slowly and chew your food to almost liquefied. Also avoid drinking through straws and chewing gum. All of these will make you suck in more air that will eventually lead to gas buildup and bloat. Foods that you are intolerant to (possibly dairy, wheat, nuts, etc.) and artificial sweeteners can also contribute to unnecessary stomach discomfort or inflammation and add to a thicker… Continue

Honoring Earth Day Through The Eyes of Fourth-Graders and Rauschenberg

A few weeks ago, my son, Hunter, brought home information about the artist Robert Rauschenberg, which his fourth grade class was studying. When I read through the overview on Raushenberg I said to my son, "Wow, we have a signed Rauschenberg Earth Day poster downstairs from when I was your age, would you like mom to come in to present the artist to the class?" With the approval of the teacher, and in honor of Earth Day, we had a fabulous discussion about how Raushenberg, a…

A Mommy's Everest

I may believe that Supermom is a Myth, but I also believe that when a mom needs to, she gets the job done, no matter the daunting physical feat in front of her. Not only have I endured a 25 hour labor and the recovery thereafter, breastfeeding was excruciatingly, gnawingly painful (and it did not get better after two weeks like they tell you, I just started getting blisters). Then, it’s learning to do all tasks…

Sending YOU to Sesame Place - Weekly Wings

As a matter of fact 2010 marks the 30th birthday of Sesame Place, the nation’s only theme park based entirely on the award-winning television show.
