Summer Lovin' - Weekly Wings

Summer congers up images of sand, surf, swimming, sailing and perhaps the thought of, some serious sweating.   Summer is a season that I most enjoy (except when I have to work inside on the most magnificent of days) and Summer is the name of a woman I so admire.  I had the great pleasure of interviewing… Continue

Following Through

Every so often we bark an order at a kid and moments later, regret it. Why do we regret it? Because it was said with no forethought of what a pain it would be to follow through.  The alternative to following through is unbearable – parents transforming into white noise machines repeatedly saying annoying things like:

“I’m giving you ONE more chance”,…

Child Safety Tips - May Newsletter

Happy May to you! April's National Child Abuse Prevention Month has drawn to a close and what an exciting month it was.  As many of you know, we appeared on an episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show and Oprah shared My Body Belongs to Me with her viewers.  It was an incredible experience and a terrific opportunity to inform parents about the importance of talking to their children about child sexual abuse prevention.

Many of you have asked for a link to the show so I am providing…

Care Homes closing

I have been doing some voluntary aromatherapy work at a local Care Home today.  It's brill to see how much they enjoy it plus having someone to chat to.  I can't believe that 100's of Care Homes are going to be closed in the UK soon.   These people deserve so much better some of them are in their 90's.

Brilliant Summer Parenting (Daycare)

My husband and I both work for schools, so we both have summer vacation off together every year. As if you already don't hate us enough for that kind of set-up, we are true gluttons for continuing to take our child to day care in the summer.

Hold on, hold on, keep the stones in your pockets. He only goes to daycare part-time in the summer, AND I have lots of handy excuses to defend this choice and make it sound like we are brilliant parents.

Handy Excuses to…
