Career Management: Tips for Making a Temp Agency your Best Job Search Method

It seems that discussions around temporary work assignments tend to skip big levels of understanding when it comes to how best to work with them, as well as the great opportunities they present.  To solve that problem, I went right to top for an interview with Kelly Riley, Regional VP of the Virginia/Carolina Region for Randstad, a global HR & Staffing company that specializes in temporary work.  Kelly is a 20-year veteran of this business; and there isn’t a trend in the business she…

Top Tips for Free Summer Fun! - Weekly Wings

Recession, depression, debt! I did some thinking during my pre-work run this morning and had some thoughts on how to tackle the increased deficit of the United States of America.  How about Bill Gates join forces with Oprah and perhaps the Jolie-Pitts, with a Zuckerberg thrown in the mix, topped off with a bit of Trump and sprinkled with whomever should possess in excess of 50 million dollars (I’m being… Continue

ON FINDING MYSELF

You know how you go through your house looking for something you lost. You can't find it no matter where you look. You look and look, sometimes for days, you never find it. I finally realized through this journey I have been taking that what I was looking for was me! I'm the girlfriend, mother, surgical scrub, sister, babysitter, etc. I give and give and give with little in return, as most single mothers do. But, as my daughter has gotten more involved in college and her budding career I…

Is there value in an Informational Interview? - Weekly Wings

When I graduated from Ithaca College, like many, I did not have a clear vision of what I wanted to do.  I remember my mother driving me into New York City, and then waiting in the car, so that I could go on a few “informational interviews.”  I don’t recall being nervous but I do recall the hideous bone-colored suit and matching shoes that I adorned.  The beauty of these “sit-downs” came from…
