As a newcomer to the site, I fear this post might make some who read this mistakenly take me for a "Debbie Downer". This is most definitely not the case in most instances; I am usually extremely upbeat, motivated, and enthusiastic. Having said that, we can't all be happy all the time...
Have you ever heard the saying, "If life gives you lemons...?" Well, I have about five very large lemons right now, and I am not at all in the mood for lemonade (unless there is vodka in it). Professionally, I lost two large potential accounts this past week. Personally, both my dishwasher and dryer broke down last week, plus our roof has a leak and we are unable to fix it because it has been raining constantly for the last two weeks.
Sometimes everything happens at once.
If you haven't stopped reading by now, I am sure you are wondering why I chose to introduce myself to the myworkbutterfly.com blog community with such a depressing entry? I will tell you why. Because sometimes life stinks and it is okay to feel sad about it. I remember when I first had the idea to launch my company, aquaBling (www.myaquabling.com). I read every kind of entrepreneurial book I could get my hands on for advice. I visited blog after blog after blog for direction and inspiration. I went to mixers, meetings, networking events. It was all the same. Every entrepreneur there was so enthusiastic, their businesses had never been better, and things were so easy for them. And, while their attitude was certainly inspiring and infectious to a certain degree, once I launched my product and worked on growing my business I soon realized it was not fast or easy. When I went looking for some empathy or advice from fellow entrepreneurs, it was not easily given. Entrepreneurs spend so many hours of their lives pumping up their products, services, and companies, that admitting the process is more difficult than they thought it would be is, I think, admitting a certain degree of defeat.
I have since learned, though, that sometimes it is okay to throw in the towel temporarily. To allow myself to feel overwhelmed, disappointed, or even just plain sad. Because sometimes life stinks.
So ladies, when life gives you lemons...make yourself a vodka cooler, eat fattening food in your pajamas, and put yourselves to bed early. When you wake up the next day, start from scratch. You'll feel so much better. ;-)

I'm with you! If it were that easy.. everyone would be doing it. Although, if you are passionate like us, the lumps and bumps propel you to forge ahead with rigor! So, cheers to you and your vodka cooler.. we are in this together!
