Dr. Robi Ludwig, guest of Oprah, E!, Larry King, Regis and Kelly, TruTv and now H.M.S. Butterfly

As we are all well aware, the stress of motherhood is enough to “shove” you over the edge. Add a work schedule to the mix and it’s likely that you will sprint to your nearest pharmacy for a Costco size case of Prozac. Before we hit rock bottom, spiraling like a child “amped” up on sugar, we ask ourselves, “How can I possibly handle it all?”</</i>td>
With the proper tools, Dr. Robi Ludwig, mother of two, proves that you can manage the stress of your job and the stress of your family. Dr. Robi is a nationally known psychotherapist who has been a guest on several programs like: Today, E!, Regis and Kelly, Oprah, The View and Bill O’Reilly to name a few. She has helped countless individuals by providing marriage advice and relationship tips for sustaining a happy lifestyle.

In an exclusive interview with Butterfly, Dr. Robi gives you the tools so that you will realize that you don’t need that case of Prozac after all:

BN: How do you personally manage your life as a mother and as a career woman?

Dr.RL: That’s a good question. Let me see how I can answer it. Some days better than others that’s for sure. I’ll tell you, I couldn’t do it all by myself. It really helps to have great people in my life who are there to help me out. My husband is very supportive of my career. He never makes me feel guilty for loving what I do and needing to split my time between home and work. I have a great nanny, who loves my kids and is really amazing with them. I have a family who pitches in and helps out every once in a while too. All of these people/factors certainly help me to manage and balance my busy work and home life responsibilities. Plus, I understand, the more fulfilled I am, the better parent, friend and family member I can and will be.

BN: What emotions do you grapple with in trying to do both well?

Dr.RL:As a working parent, I always feel guilty. I always wonder if my kids feel like they’re getting enough from me, when I am with them. I sometimes wonder if I’m being present enough. The truth of the matter is, some days I probably do a better job than others. If I were to stay home full-time it would not make me a better parent. I am absolutely certain about that. I would feel unfulfilled and probably very depressed. At least my kids get to see that work and a career can be fun and rewarding, but I do struggle with chronic feelings of guilt. I’d be lying if I said otherwise.
