  • Family history is a special way to bond with your kids.
Just recently, I was visting family in Oklahoma, and was surprised to find out they found my grandfather's burial site on my mother's side. He died when my mother was quit young. It was especially interesting to my teenage son, who found out he was a judge, and practiced law - something he too is interested in.
You may be surprised when the old family photos come out at home, your children will have many questions. Turn the TV off and take a history trip.
It gives them a sense of pride to learn about their past, and what life was like back then.
When you start creating your own family history collage, be sure to research the whole family and include past and present dates. If you still have an elder in the family, check with them for acurate dates and names. If most of the family has passed on - courthouse, newspaper or funeral home websites may be able to help your complete your tree. Always ask several family members to look at your family collage, especially if you plan on saving it for your children.
You may find out many things about your family you did not know!
