Halloween Tricks and Contest Treats

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year- what a bonus for working moms! No need to race home from work to take your children door to door. No need to feel guilty that you can't make it home until past dark. Halloween is on Saturday this year- what a wonderful thing! My son is of the age where he thinks it's hysterical to dress up like a cheerleader and actually convinced me to buy him the outfit. Pom poms and all. My daughter, on the other hand, had her mind set on being Hannah Montana which meant purchasing a sequined hot pink dress that is older than her (6) years. The things we do for our children. Enjoy October 31st and remember the following:

8 Tips for a Successful Halloween
1. Feed your children (and yourself) before you set out to trick or treat to avoid a candy binge
2. Check all candy to make sure nothing has been opened or tampered with (toss all home-baked goods, unless received from friends)
3. Let your children keep a handful of treats and give the rest away (my husband takes it to work)
4. Consider giving out non-edible treats like temporary tattoos or stickers
5. Don't let your child run with a lollipop sticking out of their mouth- this makes us SO nervous
6. Stay close to your child as they bolt from door to door- it can be hard to keep up
7. Do not let your child go trick or treating alone, especially at night
8. Do not get caught when you steal your favorite candy from your child's stash
