How do you feel about having your family living far away from you?

My mother, sister, nephews, and nieces live in a different state than I do. Most days, it does not bother me. But, on a day like today, it would be great to pop over real quick, get some words of encouragement, and maybe munch on a treat or two. As my kids get older, I really do see the need to have my family available for me.

Do you suffer, enjoy, being away from you family? Please share your stories.

So it appears that the consensus is most feel that family is needed. Family whether near or far are a needed resource. Just knowing that they are there for you no matter what, makes you stand tall when the enemy is all around you. Its like the coat of armor.

I too live very far away from my family...over the past year key family members My sister, and her family including new 1 month old baby) have moved back to our home town in the maritimes, the east coast of Canada and I am still living on the pacific in BC. I agree with Darline that when life brings adversity it makes you realize how important being close in, say, driving proximity, is. That, and every time I visit and it takes me 3 airplanes and one day loss to get there, it reminds me just how far apart we really are.

Hi Darline:

I am hopeful to get back home myself one of these years. For now, I try to stay in touch via social networking and of course, ma bell! Yes, please let network and build our businesses together. Don't be a stranger.

Hi Shanah,
I just sent you a friend invitation and happened to take a look at your blog post. I live very far away from family and friends, in Texas, and after a particularly difficult year, told my husband that it's time to move closer. We are looking to relocate back to the east coast in the next 12-18 months. Looking forward to networking with you more. Darline
