Hyla Weiss Balances Fundraising And Family

Hyla Weiss, advocate & fundraiser for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America, as well as other non-profit organizations, shares her passion on how you too can make a difference.

How might someone get involved?

If someone feels the need in their heart to do something, that’s what is most important. No special skills, just the desire.

Is it realistic for a mom to commit only a few hours a week to charity work?

Absolutely! Volunteerism means that you are giving your time because you want to and when you can. No one has ever judged me for not putting in enough time. People are just so happy to have others who take an interest and are willing to help out. It is not about how much time.

Any amount of time that works for the individual is great. I have never heard of anyone being turned away for wanting to help on any level. It is the single most wonderful feeling to know that you have helped someone.

Are you looking for women to work part-time in your efforts for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America? Who should they contact?

Every organization is always looking for volunteers. As for CCFA, their number is 973-786-9960. But, I think the key is to find something that interests you.

Whether it is a health organization or working with kids or the elderly, you need to decide on what makes you feel good and go for it. You should feel good about what you are doing, since it is often so selfless.

Hyla, you are doing great work and thanks for your timely words about volunteerism. I have heard of some folks with Crohns who have had success treating it with Alkaline, ionized water. based on the phone number you have provided, it seems you are in NJ? If so..I own a water ionizer machine and I am also a distributer and I am willing to share the water free with anyone on your team wanting to try it.
