I Love Boobies! - Weekly Wings

When we noticed the 5^th grade boys at our sons’ elementary school sporting “I Love Boobies!” bracelets, our reaction was less than favorable. In fact, we thought, “How inappropriate!” Two days later I was driving my 10-year old to buy one in every color. You see, the purpose of the “I Love Boobies!” campaign is to “help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support.” The Keep A Breast Foundation further aims to increase breast cancer awareness among our children so they “make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well-being.” We love that they are speaking to our kids about a subject that can be scary and considered hush-hush and recognize that when breast cancer hits a family, everyone is impacted. 100% of the proceeds from the bracelets (50% at some retailers) benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation. As such, “Boobies” is no longer an “inappropriate” word around here… it has given us the opportunity to talk to our own children about prevention, detection and survival and we encourage you to do the same. Say it aloud with us, “I Love Boobies!”

We were in awe of her when we visited her home last year, pre-diagnosis, as she shared stories of reporting from the Gaza Strip while sporting a flack jacket to protect her pregnant self and raising her family amongst bombings in Jerusalem. Jennifer is a survivor deep down to her very core and yes, she too “loves boobies!” In fact, she has since “traded up!”
