Livingston Lancers Girls' Basketball Season Off to An Exciting 2-0 Start

For the first time in recent years, the Livingston Lancers Girls' Varsity Basketball Team is 2-0, winning it's opening game on the road against Belleville High School Friday night, 37-30, and defeating Arts Science High School in Newark by 10 points this past Monday.  In addition to the Varsity wins, the Junior Varsity Squad also won its first two games, promising for an exciting season for both teams and positioning them as contenders in the Super Essex Conference.

After an 8-0 deficit early in the game, Junior Mallory Breg led Varsity in scoring against Arts with 12 points, followed by Freshmen Sam Rothenberger with nine points.  Each  had 10 points and combined for 11 rebounds against Belleville. The Lady Lancers were impressive defensively, forcing 12 turnovers against Arts and with strong performances under the board in both games from Senior Gionna Tarantola, Junior Brianna Padilla and Sophomore Caroline Cole. Captain Ally Boni and Junior Carly LaGrotta have been key contributors on both offense and defense and the team has been led steadily at point by Senior Sydney Friedman.
 
The Lady Lancers will face Cranford at the Holiday Tournament at West Orange High School on Tuesday, December 28 at 3:00 p.m.
