Melissa Peretz, Certified Fitness Instructor, Shares Her Exercise Expertise

How might women find the energy to work and play?

One of the most important things to start with is fuel. Are you treating your “engine” in the most optimal way? Are the foods you are taking in working to your advantage? Are you drinking enough water? Are you getting an adequate amount of rest? If those questions are being taken into consideration (as much as is possible) then exercise has to come next.
One of the ways we get more energy is by “spending” energy. I have many clients who start their sessions sluggish and tired, but by the end of it feel awake and recharged. It will not happen after the first session (usually) but after a few times, your body will start to respond and then you will feel more tired when you don’t exercise. It has to become part of your lifestyle to make a difference in your life. If it is seen as a task to “get out of the way” it will always feel like a burden and not an empowering/centering part of your day.

What are some exercises that you may suggest to boost the body?

Any form of exercise will boost your body; it all depends on how much time you are able to spend. Taking a brisk walk around the block may be enough to shake off some cobwebs and “get the blood flowing.” Take a few deep breaths and stretch any tight muscles. Hold each stretch for three deep breaths. Wall/chair push-ups and chair squats will use the major muscle groups, elevate your heart rate and therefore, release a few endorphins and boost the body.
