Mother Daze... tales from the imperfect playground excerpt (Nov. 2nd)

Here is a sneak peek from Mother Daze... tales from the imperfect playground:
...It was at that moment, while driving in the car, that I decided to write. I began to reflect on all of the women in my life, how impressive each one is, and how much we miraculously get done. My thoughts jumped from beach excursions to birthday parties, from friendships to family history. While my three children took turns at providing complaints, I gazed forward and smiled. I became oddly excited. I actually laughed out loud. Andy didn’t pick up on it, but I enjoyed the inside jolly with myself.
I imagined how glorious women are amid the humor, sorrow, love, and laughter. I recalled my dear friend who sat with me in the emergency room for four hours after I had been involved in a minor car accident. I remembered the mother at the local Super Center who tried to restrain her “tantruming” child as he jiggled like a bucking-bronco in her arms, and I visualized that first time mom crying in the pediatrician’s office because her infant wouldn’t eat. I thought about the tired co-worker who was caring for her aging mother because her brother just wasn’t available and that single mother who was struggling to pay her bills. Time and time again, I found myself repeating the same words in my head, “We women are great… We women are great!” We magically do it all, yet never quite think we’ve accomplished enough.
This book is a tribute in the truest sense of the word and it is my hope that you perceive it as such. I do not pretend to have the answers nor do I claim to have this parenthood thing all figured out. I am not asking the women of the world to burn their bras at the local Village Green and I certainly do not conceal a super-hero suit of spandex underneath my clothes --- although sporting a girdle of yesteryear would be quite beneficial after an occasional day long binge.... to be continued :)

This is great! I imagine the title being "The Many Faces of Motherhood." If you're interested, I'd like to excerpt an essay-length blurb of it in my print 'zine: get born magazine You can read more of our material at www.getbornmag.com
