Network To Host Women's Career Conference

The Essex Professional Women's Network is sponsoring the Shoreline Women's Career conference on Tuesday, April 21, at the Acton Library in Old Saybrook.

In today's tough economy many women have been faced with sudden unemployment or might need to re-enter the workforce unexpectedly. Many times women have taken a hiatus to raise a family only to feel apprehensive about the marketability of their skills. The Shoreline Women's Career Conference is designed to provide timeless career strategies for all women in a friendly and engaging atmosphere.

Barbara Arelt and several of her network members wanted to do something meaningful for women during these uncertain times. Since 2006, the Essex Professional Women's Network, has brought together like-minded professional women following their paths in creating meaningful, harmonious and successful businesses. Their stated mission is to support and encourage each other and provide an open forum for discussion.

The Shoreline Women's Career Conference will feature a six-person expert panel: Dr. Alicia Farrell, Clearview Consulting; Barbara Arelt, financial adviser, Smith Barney; Astrid Niemelaeinen, fashion and image consultant; Bradi Nathan & Terry Starr Co-Founders of MyWorkButterfly.com; and JoAnne Carter, Education Solutions.

Going back to school is a complicated decision for anyone in career transition. Making choices while under financial pressure can also be discouraging. Our panel expert, JoAnne Carter of Education Solutions understands that the path to success is not always clear to the student. Her keen objective insight has assisted many students young and old to find the right program at the right time to meet their educational and career goals.
