DELICIOUS READY TO HEAT & EAT SOUP

I recently went to the Fancy Food Show and loved some of the products from Go! Soup.  I was so happy to find that my local Whole Foods now carries this product.  In particular, I enjoy the Asparagus + Green Peas flavor and it’s made with simple ingredients that give it a split pea soup taste and texture.  You can mix in some chicken strips to make an easy lunch.  If you are watching your salt intake, note the sodium content may be too high for you. 

1 Cup = 140 Calories, 0.5g Fat, 790 Sodium, 26g Carbs, 5g Sugar, and 5g Fiber

 

POPCORN INDIANA KETTLE CORN – SINGLE SERVE

I love the sweet/salty taste of kettle corn so it’s hard for me to stop at one serving.  I am glad that Popcorn Indiana brand now sells them in single serving bags so I can have my treat and know when to stop.  Available at Kings Supermarkets.

1 Bag = 92 Calories, 3.5g Fat, 92 Sodium, 15g Carbs, 4g Sugar, and 1g Fiber

 

TRADER JOE’S SPICY BLACK BEAN DIP

If you enjoy foods with a spicy kick, try this fat free bean dip from Trader Joe’s.  It works well not only as a dip, but try spreading 2 Tablespoons on top of grilled chicken and top with an ounce of light cheese.

2 Tablespoons = 30 Calories, 0g Fat, 160mg Sodium, 6g Carbs, 0g Sugar, and 2g Fiber

QUICK AND EASY SAUSAGE RECIPE

Many times when I need a fast and easy meal, I turn to Bilinski’s Organic Sausage.  Here is a tasty recipe from Gourmet Magazine back in 2005 that is simple to prepare using only 4 ingredients. 

 

CHIA SEED PEANUT BUTTER

Looking for a different take on peanut butter?  Try Chia Moxie Peanut Butter from NY Superfoods, a peanut butter with chia seeds added.  As with all nut butters, be careful with your portion size.  I usually recommend 1-2 teaspoons as a serving.

2 Tablespoons = 180 Calories, 15g Fat, 0mg Sodium, 8g Carbs, 1g Sugar, and 4g Fiber

(1 Teaspoon = 30 Calories, 0g Fat, 27mg Sodium, 1g Carbs, 0g Sugar, and 0g Fiber)

 

ORGANIC WINES

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about trying to change over to organic wines when possible to decrease the amount of pesticides in what I drink.  I know this is tough to do at a restaurant, but it’s possible to do in the home.  Some of the brands I purchased are: Tikal Natural, Las Mulas, Santa Julia, and ConoSur (look for the organic selections from these wineries).
