Hey Everyone! So, my son Preston is almost 6 months old already. I was only going to pump for 6 months and then turn totally to formula! Preston is doing so well, that I want to continue. My first son Spencer received the "liquid gold" for a year, so its only fair that Preston gets the same! Plus, with the crazy Swine flu thing going around, I need all the help I can get! Anyway, its soooooo funny pumping at work! I pump when I get off the air everyday at about 10AM....I go into the only room with a bit of privacy. The only problem is that there are these HUGE windows in the room that face a building!!!! There are no window shades so its like "HELLO!" I really have no choice so I turn my back to the window and get it done! LOL...its all for my "little man!" I don't think anybody can see, so its all good.

The other day someone that worked here pushed the door open without knocking....Did I mention there are no locks??? I never yelled so loud...I pushed the door so hard that I almost hurt the poor guy! I felt so bad and so did he! Its is not easy pumping at work...you never know who will walk in!

Thanks for listening!

hehe, the things we do for our kiddos!! I've pumped over a year and I'm now starting to wind down. I'm down to 1x/day at work from 3x/day at work and at night when at home. I can't believe how hard its been to not go into the Mommy Room during the past couple weeks. I felt like I was chained to it for so long and now I can't let go!

Thanks Danielle for sharing about pumping at work!! This is such a HOT topic. Carlene, when I had my second child I rented this crazy, top of the line, breast pumping machine to get the milk flowing...it definitely helped, and it was pretty cheap. Then as Danielle said, I froze as much as I could because I too was worried about the supply.

hey! you need the 'hooter hider' to give you extra privacy. I work at a NYC hospital and although i am in an office people have been known to use their master key and just let themselves in ! (even with a sign on the door)..it was one of the things i bought myself after my second son was born..no more bfing for me - he's 17 months but still..it was helpful in the privacy dept :) i think its bebe au lait (Buy Buy Baby has them).

Hey Carlene....I feel ya! I manage to pump 3 to 4 times a day. I am very lucky because I get a lot of milk. My right breast produces a lot more than the left. Some mornings I can get 10 ounces from the right! When are you going back to work? Maybe while you are still home you can pump more times a day and freeze the extra? I don't know how you have any extra time with 4 kids! My other suggestion is to do half and half. Sometimes, when the milk runs low, you can do half breast milk and half formula. At least then you know the baby is getting some breast milk!

Good Luck,
Danielle

Hi Danielle,

I completely understand...When I returned back to work with my third child, the only place where I could pump was in a bathroom stall. I hated it, especially when someone had did a number 2. I hung in there but eventually my milk supply started running low. I needed to be on the phones and pumping cut into that time. My breaks weren't long enough to set up the pump, lay paper towels around the sink to hold all the parts, pump, bag the milk, wash the parts, then pack it all up again. I eventually became a stay at home mom, it was so much easier and I enjoyed every minute of it. I am now on my fourth child and returning back to work part-time. He is turning five months and hates the bottle. Any suggestions to keeping the milk flowing to pump enough for a sitter? Unfortunately, I am feeding out of one breast. I either need to double the supply in the good one or get this lazy breast working again or both. Any ideas is appreciated!!!!

Carlene
