Putting the "Labor" back in Labor Day! - Weekly Wings

Labor Day, the first Monday of September every year, officially marks the end of summer. It is a day to pause, to spend time overeating with friends and family, to pack away your white skinny (or mom) jeans, to prepare for school, AND to honor workers. The actual Labor Day holiday dates back to the 1880s when New York City labor unions joined forces to celebrate the spirit and strength of workingmen and women. The parades and organized rallies helped to create laws that would benefit workers, like the 8-hour workday. Fourteen years later, in 1894, the U.S. Congress deemed it a national holiday, honoring American workers. Everyday is Labor Day at MyWorkButterfly as we continually honor return-to-work and working moms. Meet and honor a few new Butterfly members and workers:

1. Kelli Smith- Owner of Slumber Parties by Kelli

2. Maria Del Carmen Declet- Human Resources Supervisor

3. Pattie Ficorilli- Professional in the Intimate Apparel Industry

In honor of the “on-ramper” this Labor Day, who so desires a flexible job and additional
income- here are a few job opportunities just for you:

1. Mom’s 3-Hour Workweek- Own your own flexible mommy-and-me business

2. Cigna- Apply for a job in Nursing and IT

3. Jos. A. Bank- Work from home in a sales role for a national retailer

President Obama even honors you stating, "We need to take further steps to create jobs and keep the economy growing, including extending tax cuts for the middle class and investing in the areas of our economy where the potential for job growth is greatest." According to the Wall Street Journal, “The Obama administration is moving toward using the revenue from expiring tax cuts for the wealthy to finance about $35 billion of tax cuts for small businesses and workers.” One can hope now, can’t we?

This Labor Day we are still facing a job deficit of more than 10 million; now’s the time to take advantage of social networking more than ever. Use Butterfly as a resource:

1. Search the Job Board

2. Become an Entrepreneur

3. Learn about career options from work-at-home moms

We do hope you enjoyed your long weekend. As we prepare for season change- know we are committed to putting the “Labor” back in Labor Day.

Best,

Bradi and Terry
