Shelly Grossman, Owner Of Shelly Belly Maternity, Offers Tips For A Brick And Mortar Start-Up

What are the first steps one needs to take to turn their concept into a reality?

Budget how much capital you need to first start the business (i.e, fixtures, merchandise, computers, etc.). Then leave yourself a cushion each month just to cover your rent as a safety net.

Are there particular resources you might share in setting up a new business?

Find a great bookkeeper. Develop a campaign to send direct mail postcards frequently. The postcards are my best form of advertising and response.

If you’re expecting or know someone who is and want to purchase trendy maternity wear, contact Shelly at shelly@shellybellymaternity.com or visit her website at www.shellybellymaternity.com
