Imagine if someone offered you a pill that could relieve your stress, improve your health and make you feel great... would you take it? Now, imagine that this medicine has no negative side effects, releases endorphins and is freely available at all times. Laughter does just that! The problem is that as adults, we rarely laugh. Laughter yoga is a form of light physical exercise coupled with deep breathing and laughter exercises that is done in a group setting where the laughter is generated for no specific reason at all. It is not humor based and although the sessions invariably become hilarious, our bodies do not know the difference between real and fake laughter. In the same way that we jog on the treadmill for exercise, fake laughter generates the same health and emotional benefits that real laughter does. Laughter yoga does not require great physical endurance, but it does provide a good aerobic workout. sheryl, I agree that a good belly laugh can totally change a situation and the way a person is feeling. Many times I am with my friends and we just laugh until we cry and become so silly. I heard a great joke today that made me laugh and you're right- it did feel so good!
"A husband goes to the Dr. to inquire about the cost of getting his (you know what) enlarged. The Dr. says it will be 3,000 for a 7" and 5,000 for a 9". With that, the husband returns home to ask his wife what her preference may be. She replies, I prefer granite countertops."
