With my Sweet Pea (her name is Erin) off at The Aveda Institute in Minneapolis since last October, our house has definitely gotten quieter. (She just turned 19 and I'm a little blue as this is the first birthday we haven't been together). I still have both of the boys at home, Sean 20 and Erik 14, but all too soon I and my husband will be empty nesters.

I tell myself that Erik is only in eighth grade and that I still have 4-5 years left but this glass half full psychology affords little comfort. Despite working full time outside the home, I consider myself first and foremost a mom. I work to live, not live to work. However, what will I do when I work to live with no children to benefit from it?

When that day comes, and if I have my druthers, I will have hopefully fulfilled my entrepreneurial aspirations. How else will I be able to be free to be a doting motherly nuisance to my children by being my own boss and free to travel wherever they may be? I can dream, can't I?
