According to Wikipedia, a partnership is a type of business entity in which partners (owners) share with each other the profits or losses of the business. Although, Terry and I will tell you that our partnership extends far beyond this textbook definition. This past weekend Terry scored an interview with
Jill Zarin, star of the Real Housewives of NYC. The interview was scheduled for July 4 at 2pm at the home of Jill Zarin (newest member of Butterfly) in Sag Harbor, aka "The Hamptons." Terry loaded her family into the car, video camera in hand, and set off for a 2 1/2 hour drive. Her partner, that'd be me, was already scheduled to be in Connecticut with the extended family for the fourth. I had huge aspirations of jetting across the Long Island Sound to make the interview but, the seven hour round trip deterred me (as did the rough waters that turned my face green). Here's where the partnership part comes in and the notion that sometimes it's best to divide and conquer in order to make things happen. Terry's interview with Jill turned into a 2 1/2 hour visit that included face time with Jill's mom Gloria, another star of the Real Housewives of NYC. Terry even went as far as to set up a bridge date for her mom Betty and Gloria in Boca Raton. Interview coming to Butterfly soon, thanks to my partner.
If you are thinking about launching a business, strongly consider securing a partner that makes you stronger and better at the end of the day. There will come a time where you may realize that you can't do it all and that the strength of a partner like Terry, will only make your business more successful at the end of the day. This past week we interviewed partners
Andrea Gillman and
Jami Weisman, Co-Founders of Cut By 2 Blondes. They too reveal how they naturally take on specific roles and that they each possess strengths that make up for any weaknesses. In just two short years, this duo has secured Neiman Marcus, a national upscale department store, as a retailer to sell their wares. Andrea and Jami's interview is coming to MyWorkButterfly this August.
Terry and I also interviewed
Diane Clehane, best selling author and freelance journalist, this past week at Michael's Restaurant in midtown Manhattan. Diane is also a parenting blogger for
Westchestermagazine.com and is the adoring mother of a beautiful little girl from China, Madeline. July also boasts another coup for Butterfly as we feature FOX news' correspondent and co-host of
Happening Now, Jane Skinner. Watch this amazing interview shot at the FOX News studios with Jane at her finest, detailing what it's like to report on cases such as Caylee and Jon Benet as a mother herself.
We, as partners, are committed to bringing you fascinating Mom Mentor interviews that will make you laugh, in the case of comedian/mom
Jessica Kirson or that will offer you solutions, in the case of Registered Dietician,
Shari Boockvar. Watch their stories, know that their success can be your success and that we are ALL mom mentors at the end of the day.
PS. Stay tuned for our
Member Marketplace in which you will be able to list your business or service (for $99) or readily find the resources and tools you need in order to succeed.
