Weekly Wings - June 8, 2009 - Moms Helping Moms

Jon & Kate Plus 8 has turned into an international phenomenon with nearly 4.5 million viewers this past season in the US alone. As a family they have gained much over the past few seasons: hair plugs for Jon, a tummy tuck for Kate, book deals and speaking engagements. Unfortunately for them, this was all done at the risk of losing their marriage. The Gosselin's relationship is deteriorating in the same fashion as Nick and Jessica Simpson's did on MTV's Newlyweds. Although, the Gosselins don't look quite as gorgeous +!@#$ing at one another. It's ironic how the media can both build you up and break you down. Terry and I are striving to achieve more of the build you up part.

As you know, we have created MyWorkButterfly as an online village to promote mothers, offer resources to mothers and to empower mothers. In short, we're all about moms helping moms. Here's where the media part comes in~ Terry and I are in need of a bit of assistance from smart and savvy moms like you. You see, our goal is for MyWorkButterfly to be a household name where women across the globe refer to themselves as Butterflies. Here are a few things you can do to help us spread our mission to empower moms and to create a larger community from which to find greater resources: Put the MyWorkButterfly.com Badge on you Facebook page, download your address book into the Invite Us section, or if you're really feeling ambitious, write to your local editors to share your experiences within the Butterfly community or call on your connections. The member who creates the biggest buzz (i.e.: National Media) will be personally interviewed by Terry and I and featured on the home page of the site. We will also offer you space on MyWorkButterfly to advertise your product or services as a special thank you.

Call the aforementioned a contest if you will or call it "Paying It Forward." In our Swim, Sun and Fun Contest you can win a $500 swimwear shopping spree to alexandme.com. Last I checked we were still in a recession...$500 goes a long way in protective summer fashions! And, there's more!

We are working on creating a symposium to bring MyWorkButterfly to life. Please let us know what you would like to get out of our first ever offline event so that we can continue to meet your needs both personally and professionally. Email customerservice@myworkbutterfly.com to share your suggestions. Our first “Metamorphosis” event will be launched in NYC with plans to spread our wings to other markets. Many of our Butterfly experts and celebrity moms will be in attendance~ those who too have used the media to build them up rather than break them down. Our most recent event held in Bloomingdales featured our very own Butterfly Moms models Helaine Kay, Iris Shamus, Cindy Bitensky and Jennifer Guterman-Fessler. 10% of proceeds were donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. A huge thanks to our each of our moms for making this event a success.
